Message from the Principal

Manila Japanese School Principal:
Watanabe Madoka

Welcome to Manila Japanese School

Founded in 1968, Manila Japanese School (MJS) has built a proud history and tradition over more than five decades.
Our curriculum is organized in accordance with the Course of Study established by Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), and lessons are conducted in Japanese, primarily by teachers dispatched from Japan.
A distinctive feature of our program is our language and physical education offerings. English conversation classes are held twice a week in the Elementary Division and once a week in the Junior High Division. Taking advantage of Manila's warm climate, weekly swimming lessons are provided for all grade levels. Both subjects are taught in small groups by native-speaking instructors.
For elementary students who feel less confident in Japanese, an optional after-school "Japanese Language Class" is offered once a week to provide additional support.
Our Special Needs Class, established for students with intellectual disabilities, is now in its fourth year, and we also offer a resource room program for students requiring targeted support. As a school community, we are committed to providing education that meets the individual needs of every child.
In terms of learning environment, every classroom is equipped with a large display monitor, and each student is provided with a personal Chromebook, supporting our commitment to ICT integration and learner-centered education.
At MJS, we often speak of a certain "MJS Magic." Children who join our school grow kinder, brighter, and more open-hearted. Even those who arrive feeling anxious about life away from Japan quickly find friends and begin to smile.
If your family is preparing for life in Manila, we warmly invite you to consider Manila Japanese School as your child's educational home.
