Message from the Principal
Manila Japanese School Principal:
Kozen Katayama
Welcome to Manila Japanese School
Our school was founded in 1968 and has built a glorious history and traditions ever since.
Classes are conducted in Japanese, primarily by instructors dispatched from Japan, following an educational curriculum that conforms to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's curriculum guidelines.
As a unique feature, the elementary school offers two hours of English conversation lessons per week, and the junior high school offers one hour per week. Taking advantage of the warm climate, all grades also receive one hour of swimming lessons per week. Both lessons are taught in small groups by native English teachers.
For elementary school students who wish to attend, we offer one hour of Japanese language classes per week, providing an opportunity for children who are unsure about their Japanese language skills to learn the language.
We have been offering special support classes (for students with intellectual disabilities) for three years now. We also have resource rooms, and aim to provide educational activities that cater to each student as a whole school.
In terms of the learning environment, we have installed electronic whiteboards in each classroom and are promoting the use of digital textbooks. We also provide each student with a Chromebook to deepen their learning.
Our school is steeped in the MJS magic: "When you enroll in MJS (Manila Japanese School), everyone becomes kind, cheerful, and honest. Even if you are anxious about leaving Japan, you will quickly blend in with your friends and begin to smile."
If you are studying in Manila, please come to the Manila Japanese School.
